Rinke Blok manages much of the general electrical issues in the area, being a committee member of the Vandia Gardens Residents Association.

Meet: Rinke Blok from Vandia Grove

A stalwart in his community, Rinke Blok gets involved wherever he is needed.

A committee member at Vandia Gardens Residents Association (which caters to residents in Vandia Grove, Beverley Gardens, Bryanston Ext 5 and O’Summit), Blok forms his own simplified details of load-shedding schedules for residents, looks after streetlights and responds to general electrical issues in the area.

In terms of his interest in keeping the community safe, Blok is vice chairperson of Randburg Community Policing Forum’s Sector 3 and helps head efforts to reduce crime and make the community aware of incidents and how to stay safe.

The owner of The Model Train Shop lives and works out of his home in Vandia Grove.

His garage is always full of equipment, parts, and hand-made models that are finished or still need to be constructed or painted.

His dogs and cats always greet visitors, and there are many of them as Blok is always busy with projects and neighbours also come to say hi.

“It’s a fabulous neighbourhood,” Blok told Randburg Sun.

“I absolutely enjoy living and working in Vandia Grove.”

Walking around the association’s Summer Bash event and greeting residents, Blok gave the impression he knew just about everyone in the neighbourhood.
