Greater Sharonlea Residents Forum does its best for the community

The suburb of Sharonlea is safer and cleaner thanks to the work of this local residents association.

The Greater Sharonlea Residents Forum is an active residents association trying to make its suburb better.

So says its chairperson, JC Wouters, who also encouraged residents in Sharonlea to join and support the group.

Unparalleled security systems, community clean-ups, removal of illegal signs on robots and road signs, grass and tree trimming, graffiti removal, working with and reporting road issues to the City of Joburg, and other projects that residents have taken upon themselves such as maintenance of the local post office.

The forum does all this and more.

“None of this is possible without support from the community, and we thank everyone who ensures this suburb is what it is today,” Wouters said.

“There was illegal dumping on President Fouché Road but we monitored it, caught the guys who were doing it and JMPD impounded some vehicles.”

Contributors to the group even benefit from discounts on insurance premiums and security company fees.

Two security companies patrol the area while a third monitors the 90+ security cameras 24/7.

Having multiple security companies means they can hold each other accountable.
