Illegal liquor sellers busted during Honeydew police’s Okae Molao operation

A total 440 vehicles were stopped and searched at roadblocks, and 83 vehicle owners were issued fines.

Honeydew police arrested 24 suspects and searched 440 vehicles in one day during an Okae Molao operation.

Fines were also issued to 83 vehicle owners to the value of more than R51 000.

Honeydew police spokesperson Captain Balan Muthan said the operation was conducted around the Honeydew policing area on June 9 and it was a success.

“Four suspects were arrested for dealing in alcohol without a liquor licence, 16 suspects were arrested for contravening the PSIRA [Private Security Industry Regulation] Act, one suspect was arrested for dealing in drugs and three foreign nationals were arrested for not having the proper documentation,” he said.

He added that1 118 occupants of the vehicles were also searched.

“Okae Molao is an operation that will continue happening in our policing precinct.”
