The Swiss Hotel School turns up the heat

Three students have been chosen for bursaries and two more to work at Michelin-star restaurant in France.

The Swiss Hotel School has had reason to celebrate of late.

In February the institution welcomed its new first-year Hospitality Management Degree and Professional Culinary Arts students to the Ferndale campus.

“The first few months are spent with more practical subjects so our restaurant and kitchen have been abuzz with activity,” said the institution’s director, Stephen Hickmore.

Recently, facilities have been added including a small gym, a wine library and revamped classrooms.

“This includes the launch of our 33-On-Bond restaurant in July. We will open two nights a week until September when we will open for a six-week season. Expect fine dining and a relaxed, unhurried experience. We can only accommodate 30 people per evening, so I advise enquiries and bookings.”

Third-year Hospitality Management Degree students have returned from their long internship with many having completed training in Switzerland, USA and Europe as well as some top hotels in South Africa.

They will complete their degrees studying advanced business and hospitality management subjects.

The Swiss Hotel School is proud that three of its students have been chosen for bursaries from major SA hotel groups while two graduates have been selected to work in a famous Michelin-star restaurant in the South of France.

They leave in May for six months which will change their lives.
