Curro Aurora matriculants celebrate their results

SUNDOWNER – A 96% bachelors degree pass and 1,9 distinctions per candidate is achieved at Curro Aurora.


The Class of 2021 matric learners gathered to collect their reports and celebrate fantastic results at Curro Aurora.

The school enjoyed a 99% pass rate and a 96% bachelor’s degree pass rate.

This at an average of 1.9 distinctions per candidate and in the IEB, the school had learners feature in the top 1% for Afrikaans (first additional language), English (home language) and life orientation.

“Despite the challenges of Covid-19 and lockdown since they were in Grade 11, they excelled and produced amazing results,” said the school’s executive head JC Engelbrecht.

“We have seen a huge improvement in the distinction rate, which shows individual improvement. We celebrate top achievements but what is equally important are those who improved a C to a B average. I would like to congratulate the learners and their hard-working teachers who ensured they did their best under the circumstances.”

He added that the excellent results in the IEB curriculum showed the quality of education at Curro Aurora was exceptional.

“Overall, I’m extremely proud. Special congratulations to the top achievers.”

Sabrina-Gabriel Freeman and Siphesihle Mahlangu each earned themselves seven distinctions while Alika Hillebrand and Erique Myburgh achieved six distinctions each.

Sizenalo Bidla, Mia Giacopelli, Rebecca du-Pont, Eugene Cilliers, Sonali Moodliar and Megan Winterbach each earned five distinctions, while Bronwyn Wright achieved four.
