Headlight theft on the rise

RANDBURG – Police warn against headlight theft on the street.

Police have warned drivers to be careful where they park their cars after a spate of headlight thefts.

“Thieves have been taking the headlights out of parked cars in the streets,” said Randburg police spokesperson, Captain Makwanyana Maja.

“This especially for Volkswagens and even more so for new Volkswagen vehicles. Drivers should make sure they park in a safe parking lot or a street that is safe to park in or make sure you can watch the car.”

Valuable belongings should also not be left on the seats where they can be accessed through the breaking of a window.

Instead, they should be left in the boot or carried on the person or in a handbag.

Details: Randburg police 011 449 9110.
