Rand Symphony Orchestra hosts petite picnic concert in Blairgowrie
BLAIRGOWRIE – Classical music lovers are treated to a great performance by Rand Symphony Orchestra.
Community members had a lovely time at Rand Symphony Orchestra’s Petite Performance and Premiere on 11 April.
Classical music lovers settled down for a picnic on the lawn of Domus Dei, Randburg-Suid, in Blairgowrie as the orchestra’s resident conductor and musical director, Carel Henn lead the musicians in a tranquil performance.
The full orchestra performed the premiere of the work, Kérésre, by composer Jaco Meyer, with soloist, George Fazakas on piccolo.
Then, members of the orchestra played a variety of works led by Meyer.
These included selected movements from the Brandenburg Concerto for two flutes, solo violin and strings; the String Serenades by Elgar, Dvorák and Tchaikovsky; Gounod’s Petite Symphony (three movements); a movement from Dvorák’s Serenade for winds and Rondeau’s Symphony for Brass.
