Fashion extravaganza in the virtual space
BLAIRGOWRIE – Student designs were showcased in an awards ceremony, industry engagement and socially distanced event on 8 April.
Stadio School of Fashion’s longstanding annual fashion extravaganza transitioned into the virtual space in the form of an interactive lookbook, which was showcased in an awards ceremony, industry engagement and socially distanced event on 8 April.
For the past 25 years, SSOF students have showcased their work in front of a panel of renowned industry judges at the school’s fashion show. Even though Covid-19 has placed a spanner in the works, the show proudly went on.
Judges for the student’s designs included recording artist Tamara Dey; TV host, actress and model Lalla Hirayama, and fashion designer and former alumnus Jacques Bam

Stadio School of Fashion head Maryne Steenekamp said, “While an online lookbook will never generate the same levels of euphoria and experience that goes into putting on a physical fashion show, we firmly believe that it is a practical solution to our new normal.
“We have never seen our local students’ work displayed in this way before and we are incredibly excited to see them benefit from the virtual ‘catwalk’. The online lookbook is already proving to be a fantastic portfolio for potential employers to view the talents of our students. To say that I am merely proud of our students and lecturers would be a complete understatement.”
