Four arrested by Linden police after Blairgowrie chase

BLAIRGOWRIE – Four suspects were arrested by Linden police after chasing down their suspects when they failed to stop in their vehicle on 17 November.

Four suspects were arrested by Linden police after chasing down their suspects when they failed to stop in their vehicle on 17 November.

Linden police spokesperson Constable Takalani Matumba said, “Our officers were busy patrolling Sector 1 in Blairgowrie at the corner of Republic Road and Bram Fischer Drive, which is a high crime spot in terms of common robberies in the Linden area.”
They spotted a white Polo Vivo with four male occupants.
“As soon as they saw the officers, they sped off towards Randburg. Officers gave chase, driving behind the Polo signalling for them to stop, which they failed to do.

Matumba added that the suspects sped recklessly through busy stop streets and traffic lights.
At the corner of Dover Street and Oak Avenue, their car broke down and stopped. The suspects got out of their car and attempted to run away. The police managed to catch all four of them.

Their car was searched in a full view of the suspects and when officers lifted the back seat, police found two pairs of number plates hidden under the seat, which meant that the plates on the vehicle were fake.
Three cell phones were recovered and the suspects were arrested and detained at Linden Police Station.

The Linden police are asking anyone who has been robbed of their cell phone in the past two weeks to identify ones that were recovered. Proof of ownership will be required.
