Fire tears through Ferndale building

FERNDALE – Randburg Police confirmed that a fire that ravaged a Ferndale building on Bond Street on 9 April was not a school.

A fire has ravaged a Ferndale building on Bond Street on 9 April.

City of Joburg’s Emergency Management Services spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi confirmed that firefighting services responded to the scene and that the cause of the fire is unknown at this stage.

Some reports on social media said that the building was a school, this after reports of schools being torched in Soshanguve near Pretoria on 8 April during the nationwide lockdown.

This has been discredited by Randburg Police spokesperson Captain Makgowanyana Maja who confirmed that the Ferndale fire was not a school.

No injuries were reported and EMS will be investigating to find the cause of the fire.
