Cresta Shopping Centre sounds ‘The Call to South Africa’

CRESTA – Cresta Shopping Centre endeavours to raise the spirit of Ubuntu, even while South Africans find themselves apart.

Cresta Shopping Centre has decided to spread cheer among South Africans who find themselves in low spirits during the national lockdown.

Nkosi Sikelela iAfrica meaning ‘a call to South Africa’, is not just South Africa’s National Anthem; it has been the soundtrack to our nation’s journey as we’ve walked the path together through years of hardship and through years of growth and triumph. It celebrates the power of our togetherness. Its lyrics speak of a nation that ‘stands together’. It is a prayer to bless Africa and her children, to protect our nation and it ‘sounds the call to come together, as united we shall stand’. As we fight once more together towards a different freedom, we want to remind the country of our strength as a nation and the power we have when we come together.

The centre is asking you and the community to get involved by simply submitting a video of you, your family or your friends, singing the South African National Anthem from the safety of your home. It may be in song or in music, in dance or in any way you wish to express yourselves. You can even share a picture of your message to the country if you prefer. Cresta plans to edit the individual messages together to share with the nation to remind each other that we are still together, even though we are apart. #TogetherApart

The final video will be shared on Cresta’s social platforms in the hope to spread a powerful reminder of our beautiful and diverse nation and to share hope and solidarity for all. What better way to remind South Africans of the spirit of Ubuntu, the spirit of ‘togetherness’ during this pandemic than to unite behind the National Anthem.

Because at Cresta, and throughout South Africa, we are still #TogetherApart.

Please email your submissions, images and videos with the subject line #TogetherApart to marketing@crestashoppingcentre.co.za by 7 April.
