Randburg needs these necessities

RANDBURG – Landy Yeatman has identified key things which the Randburg community often require with difficulty through her role as admin of 'I love Randburg'

Recent events have exacerbated the needs present in our community. The pursuit of basic human necessities transcends all time and contexts.

The Randburg Sun caught up with local resident Landy Yeatman who has been passionate about positive change and community efforts since she experienced the kindness of others first hand.

Yeatman is also one of the admins of Facebook page ‘I Love Randburg‘ and has made it her personal mission to help as many people as she can. Through her engagement on the page, Yeatman identified key things which people on the page often ask for and has established a non-government organisation to meet these needs called People4Purpose.

The needs which Yeatman identified and actively made strides to meet are:

  •  Non-perishable food items: Yeatman expressed a desire to start a food bank in the future, however, she found that ‘as soon as the food comes in, it goes out’ for now.
  •  Clothes: Clothing for babies and small children is the most in-demand.
  •  Job opportunities: Yeatman feels particularly strongly about job opportunities as she would like to help people in a sustainable way, beyond the impermanence of donations which met the needs of the people she has assisted temporarily. “It is my small way of empowering people.” Yeatman encouraged those in search of all forms of employment across the country to join her Facebook group ‘Job Opportunities: all provinces’.
  •  Assistance to people to apply for South African Social Security Agency grants: Yeatman has looked forward to continuing community engagement after the Covid-19 pandemic has been stabilised in South Africa as she finds herself at risk due to her status as a breast cancer survivor.

She can be reached on her NGO’s Facebook page.
