Charity shop closes amid Coronavirus concerns

NORTHWOLD – Local charity shop closes for two weeks, puts safety of home's residents first.

The Ann Harding Cheshire Home Charity Shop in Northwold has closed for two weeks amid concerns over the Coronavirus.

The Home’s Jackie Kyle revealed that in light of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s speech about combating the virus, the shop decided to shut its doors.

“Our residents are extremely vulnerable to the virus and should it enter the home, it could be catastrophic for them,” she said in a statement on 16 March.

“For this reason we are having to take drastic measures. The Charity Shop and Annie’s Place will therefore be closed from today until 31 March, at which time we will re-assess the situation. Unfortunately, we are also not able to accept any incoming donations for the shop during this time, but would be happy to take your details so that we can collect from you once the shop is open again.”

In the statement, Kyle apologised for the inconvenienced caused but said the safety of its residents had to be the home’s priority.
