Seven dangerous suspects arrested by Honeydew Police

HONEYDEW – Seven armed and dangerous suspects were arrested on 16 March.

Honeydew police are proud of the arrest of seven suspects wanted for house robbery, murder, assault, rape and various other crimes.

Honeydew police spokesperson Captain Balan Muthan said the suspects were all Mozambican nationals, heavily armed and very dangerous and were arrested on 16 March.

On 15 March, Honeydew police responded to a call by a police informant after a large number of house robberies took place in the Cosmo City area.

“An informant made us aware of suspects living in Kya Sand who were planning to take a large consignment of stolen goods to Mozambique,” said Muthan.

The police went to a location near Malibongwe Drive and found a minibus taxi with Mozambican number plates and a trailer filled with goods.

Inside the minibus they found four occupants who were searched. The suspects were carrying dozens of stolen cell phones, electronics, sharp weapons and dangerous firearms.

“One of the suspects said ‘you cannot arrest me alone’, and informed us of another serious crime committed in Chartwell a few weeks ago.”

The suspects were taken back to the station and one suspect accompanied the police to Kya Sand to point out the location of other suspects working in the syndicate.

A further three suspects were arrested and taken back to the police station for processing.

Muthan said, “We know that these suspects are linked to various crimes in the area including murder, rape, house robberies in Cosmo City, as well as several house robberies in Randpark Ridge. Investigators will work tirelessly to tie suspects to many open cases relating to them.
