Knights Prep dusts armour for local animal shelters

KENSINGTON B – Knights Preparatory spreads the love to local animal shelters.

Knights Preparatory School was privileged to participate in blessing the Randburg community with their annual Valentine’s Day collection for their furry friends at the Randburg SPCA and the ARK Animal Home.

Every year the school uses the week of love to collect food for an organisation that has remained very close to their hearts. These initiatives have helped in cultivating empathy in their students as well as taught them to show compassion.

Each child arrived at school dressed in civvies. Their payment was in the form of dog or cat food. The Knights Outreach Grade 7 Portfolio team then delivered the collection to their chosen charities.

“In a world where you can be anything…be kind!” These were the words of Michelle McMenamin, principal of Knights.

“This is a motto that encapsulates the heart of Knights. We live in a society filled with so many hardships and we need to be working on instilling empathy in our children. When you see bad news every day via social media you can become immune to the plights of those in need. It’s been said if you raise children to love animals they’ll become better people – so that’s part of what we’re trying to achieve at Knights – we’re helping to raise a generation of people who have compassion and live a life of love – because love looks like something.”
