Planned power interruption to affect Bordeaux for two days

BORDEAUX – City Power said that it is important that they switch off the electricity supply at the Bordeaux substation in order to carry out maintenance enabling the substation to functions at its maximum potential. 


City Power has announced a planned power interruption that is set to hit Bordeaux tomorrow (19 February) from 9am to 5pm.

Bordeaux and surrounding areas are already experiencing a power interruption today which started at 9am today (18 February) and will end at 5pm.

The areas that are affected today include Bordeaux, Blairgowrie, Ferndale, Klipfontein, Driefontein, Loots Street, Republic Road, Susman Street, Hunter Street, Bram Fischer Drive, Glamour Street, Sue Street, Bend Street, Fir Street, Maxwell Street, Denise Street, Jan Smuts Avenue, Hilltop Street, Paris Street, Dennis Circle, Selkirk Avenue, Blairgowrie Drive, Darnoc Avenue and End Street.

City Power said that it is important that they switch off the electricity supply at the Bordeaux substation in order to carry out maintenance enabling the substation to functions at its maximum potential.

Tomorrow’s power interruption will, however, see the following areas affected: Bordeaux, Blairgowrie, Ferndale, Klipfontein, Driefontein, Bantam Street, Morrel Street, Susman Street, Eileen Road, Geneva Road, Counsel Street, Jean Street, Conrad Drive, Blairgowrie Drive, Barkston Drive and  Francis Street.

“The interruption will take place from 9am until 5pm the same day. As the supply may be restored at anytime, customers are urged to treat their electricity supply points as live at all times.

City Power also explained that should an area experience load-shedding on the same day as the power interruption, the power interruption will be cancelled.

City Power apologised for any inconvenience that may be caused by these interruptions.
