Rand Park High School’s ex-head boy and girl reunite as teachers

RANDPARK – Rand Park High School welcomed two very familiar faces back into their teaching ranks in the form of their 2015 head boy and girl Tiffany Johnson and Joshua Ashwood.

Rand Park High School welcomed two very familiar faces back into their teaching ranks in the form of their 2015 head boy and girl, Tiffany Johnson and Joshua Ashwood.

“It feels so amazing to be back, especially on the other side of the desk this time and also to feel part of the Rand Park family again. I want to make a difference in the lives of every learner that I teach, and I feel honoured to be accepted into the school that I used to call home,” said Johnson.

Ashwood added, “It’s amazing, I have always wanted to be a teacher and I am honoured to be giving knowledge back to the future generations of Rand Park learners. I think that being in a position of leadership at a school as big as Rand Park set me up on a real path to help me achieve my goal of becoming a teacher. Being a leader helped me to deal with crises and solve them, and this is something that I have taken into adulthood.”

Johnson is happy to be teaching Geography at the school and studied her degree at the University of Pretoria.

Ashwood teaches Mathematics at the school and completed his degree at the University of Johannesburg.

As the ex-head boy and head girl have been out of the school and been through the process of studying at university, the Randburg Sun asked them what some of the best life advice was that they could give to the next generation of students passing throughout the doors of Rand Park High School.

“Just be yourself. We all want real role models, and the best kind of role models is a person who is real and true to themselves with their own goals in mind. Never lose sight of that. If your goal is to become a leader at the school, you will achieve it with hard work and dedication, and a role like that will set you up for life,” said Johnson.

“Enjoy your school journey, these are the best years of your life, so you need to savour them and take in every amazing moment. Remember, it’s a completely different world out there,” concluded Ashwood.
