Three armed suspects on the run

RANDBURG – Randburg detectives are investigating a case of house robbery in Beverly Gardens.

Randburg detectives are investigating a case of house robbery after three armed suspects allegedly robbed a house in Beverly Gardens in the early morning of 14 November.

According to Randburg Police Station spokesperson Captain Makgowanyana Maja, the suspects allegedly tied up the victims and stole jewellery and other items from their safe including firearms.

The police were notified and responded promptly and an initial investigation ensued. The investigation led the officers to the nearby spruit. Through the darkness and rain pouring, the members went into the river where they heard the suspects. The suspects noticed that were about to be cornered and fled the scene.

The officers recovered some of the items robbed from the premises as well as three firearms, one of them with serial numbers filled off. Maja said that the firearm would be taken for a ballistics test in order to determine if the weapon was used in other violent crimes.

Station Commander Brigadier Michelle Jones applauded the members for their selfless effort to go into the river during the heavily pouring rain to execute their work. She further appealed to the community to come forward with any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects or their whereabouts.

The community is encouraged to contact their nearest police station, anonymously call 086 00 10111 or use the MySAPS app.
