Honeydew police walk to keep fighting fit
HONEYDEW – The Honeydew Police Station held a 3.2km fun walk on 13 September.
The Honeydew police took the opportunity to keep fighting fit by holding a 3.2km fun walk on 13 September.
Over 50 officers from the station woke up bright and early to put on their athletic kits to keep fit and have some fun walking in the spring sun.
Lieutenant Colonel Barbara Kruger, who helped to organise the event said, “We decided to combine our Spring Day and fitness plans into a morning of fun and team building, which is very important for our station. Physical activity always helps to boost our officers’ moods and team morale.”
Kruger said that all the police officers have to undertake a fitness examination each year. “We do various kinds of physical activity each month to ensure that our officers are leading a healthy lifestyle.”
Honeydew Police Station spokesperson Captain Balan Muthan added, “The fitness of our officers is a national issue. Our police commissioner has encouraged us and all stations to try our best to ensure that our members are involved in physical activity.
“We have many officers who play a variety of sports on police teams on a regular basis, and every Wednesday is declared as a sports day where police members can partake in sporting activities to keep themselves fit.”
The officers walked from the Honeydew Police Station to Zandspruit along Beyers Naudé Drive before heading back again to have their fitness examinations.
