Within a span of three days officers in the Joburg West cluster put 149 suspects behind bars.
The arrests came from an operation that took place between 23 and 25 August. This operation was conducted throughout seven police precincts –Douglasdale, Randburg Linden, Florida, Diepsloot, Honeydew and Roodepoort.
According to Captain Mpho Tshetlhane of Douglasdale Police Station, the suspects were arrested for various crimes ranging from murder, rape,
the possession of unlicensed ammunition, drugs and dangerous weapons, dealing in liquor without a licence, drunk and driving, assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, shoplifting and illegal gambling to name a few. “The arrested suspects will appear at Randburg and Roodepoort Magistrates’ Courts soon,” she said
The police appeal to members of the community to keep on reporting all criminal activities in their area by phoning the nearest police station or 0860 010 111.
