Mr Rand Park High reflects on the night of his crowning

RANDPARK RIDGE – The newly crowned Mr Rand Park looks back after his victory.

Handsome, humble and honoured, introducing to you, 2019’s Mr Rand Park High School: Rick Weimar.

The Grade 11 learner was crowned after an intense yet entertaining showcase of formal wear, questioning and dance routines. As the night drew closer to the end, Weimar had no clue that he would be announced as Mr Rand Park. “I originally believed that the winner would be Bradley Ferreira or Tyler Glasson so it was a real surprise when they called my name. I was absolutely stunned.”

Weimar entered the competition with curiosity and courage due to his earlier years of modelling. “I entered it because I have previously done modelling shows and competitions and I wanted to see what it would be like to use the skills I have learnt in the school environment.”

The experience he had was more than enough to sway the decision in his favour. He did have a few fears going into the competition, “I was a bit worried about my pop star character walk and that the spotlight was going to be on me while I was alone on stage.”

There were many moments of joy, apart from his crowning, that made the night one to remember. Weimar said that his favourite part of the competition was the formal wear as he enjoys looking dapper in a suit. The night meant a lot to him as it was an important step in his modelling career and gave him a completely new experience.

The new Mr Rand Park High wanted to thank all those who participated and helped him on his victorious journey. “I would like to thank Rand Park High School for the opportunity to be involved with the pageant and specifically to Mrs Stansell, Miss Shearing and Miss McLean for working with us every day, for putting up with us and for making it such a fun-filled event.”
