Hotel rendezvous leads to theft

RANDBURG – Linden Police Station spokesperson Constable Takalani Matumba said that the male victim was partying at a busy Fourways pub.

The Linden police are investigating a case of theft and motor vehicle theft after a victim had his car and valuables stolen after an evening out drinking on 30 June.

Linden Police Station spokesperson Constable Takalani Matumba said that the male victim was partying at a busy pub in the Fourways area where he picked up four ladies including a work colleague.

Matumba said, “The victim parked his Mercedes Benz in the parking lot of a Randburg shopping centre and accompanied the four ladies into a hotel.”

The complainant alleged that he booked two rooms, where he shared one with two ladies and the other two in the other room.

“At one point in time, the two ladies came from the other room to his room and they gave him some juice to drink, which put him to sleep. When he woke up, he realised that the three ladies that he picked up from the Fourways pub had left and he was only left with his colleague,” added Matumba.

The victim checked around his room and realised that his wallet, cell phone, and vehicle were stolen.

Matumba concluded, “We would like to warn the community and the drivers of vehicles not to pick up unknown people from clubs and pubs after drinking alcohol. At the end of the day, you may become a victim of crime when you are not thinking rationally.”
