The Unwrapped Co. bridges the gap between environmentalism and efficiency

BLAIRGOWRIE – Marlies Bron is the owner of The Unwrapped Co. an online zero waste store making environmentalism efficient an accessible.

The Unwrapped Co. is a female-owned online store which provides accessibility to the zero-waste journey for beginners, and is run from owner Marlies Bron’s Blairgowrie home.

Bron embarked on her zero-waste journey with resources found online and has subsequently made it easier for those eager to try it out by bringing some of the components needed to one space. What started as a passion project has become a source of income, while ushering in positive change.

According to the company’s Instagram biography, the Unwrapped Co. has created a ‘space for the conscious shopper to buy wholefoods and eco-friendly products in a sustainable and plastic-free way’. Fairly new, the company began last year in November when Bron’s friends encouraged her to solve the problem of accessibility she faced. Bron found herself driving all over Johannesburg to sustain her journey to zero-waste.

The entrepreneur, wife and mother of two sells zero-waste products via her website and hopes to expand to Pretoria and surrounds, as well as open a physical shop one day. Bron says that she loves people, so this is the next logical step for her. The business owner feels grateful to her family and friends who have helped and supported her business, especially since she approaches the end of her pregnancy.

The clientele which the company has attracted thus far are generally people who are new to the zero-waste way of life. This is a clear indication that The Unwrapped Co. is a

viable option for newbies who have been bitten by the zero-waste itch to seek some guidance, as well as the seasoned zero-waste crowd. Bron encourages everyone to have a look at some of the tips on her website, as well as join the Facebook group: Zero Waste Journey in Southern Africa.
