Linden Police recover 1 060 kgs of drugs and arrest two following routine stop and search

FONTAINEBLEAU – Suspected drug dealers admit to police that they are carrying drugs.


What one would believe was another mundane stop-and-search resulted in a massive drug bust.

Linden Police Stations officers arrested two occupants of a vehicle on 29 March after finding a large amount of ephedrine hcl crystal in their vehicle.

Spokesperson of the station, Constable Takalani Matumba shared details of the incidents, “The police were doing their normal patrols on the corner of Republic Road and Rabie Street in Fontainebleau when they spotted a silver VW Polo with two males inside. They stopped the car, introduced themselves and asked to search the car. While searching, the driver of the car admitted to the police that he has drugs inside the car.”

Police continued their search and found a whopping 1 060 kilograms of ephedrine hcl crystal, which has an estimated street value of R78 000. The officers arrested the suspects and they were detained on charges of being in possession of drugs.
