JMPD fills up Ed Sheeran’s Joburg concert with safety

JOHANNESBURG – The Johannesburg Metro police were out in full force at Ed Sheeran's concert on 24 March where Joburgers attended in large numbers.

Safety was the order of the day as the JMPD deployed 142 Metro police officers, 50 traffic wardens, 46 patrol cars, eight horses and two motorcycles at FNB stadium for Ed Sheeran’s concert.

Following the stampede and string of robberies that took place at the same venue last year during another concert, the event organisers, Big Concerts, and Metro police ensured that this year, concert-goers safety was a priority.

Attendees hailed JMPD’s good work and Big Concerts partnered with Uber to assist fans with safe trips back home.

However, one Twitter user expressed her frustration with Uber drivers not wanting to transport people from the north of Johannesburg.
