Talent heads to nationals

PRAEGVILLE – Three junior athletes aim to shine come the School SA Championships.

Three athletes from I Have Talent are ready and eager to show their skills when they head to the School SA Championships in Germiston.

Timeke-Jade Coetzee broke the U13 girls long jump record at the Gauteng Championships with a 5.45m jump on the weekend of 9 March. She hopes to break the South African record (5.60m – which has stood since 2007) come nationals on 15 and 16 March.

Joining her are Josh Wilkinson and Tsiamo Motsamai. Josh will compete in long jump and Tsiamo in the 80m sprint.

“All of them have a very good chance of winning at SAs,” said Leandri Willis, a managing partner at I Have Talent and herself a former long jumper.

Earlier in the year, Willis identified the School SA Championships as a target for her athletes to compete in and do well at.

Other goals for the athletics club this year include helping athletes perform their best and for the club to grow in numbers and get the community more involved.

This will include hosting athletics clinics and conditioning sessions at the Randburg Sports Complex for all young aspiring athletes to attend.

Willis said community members could stay updated with the goings-on of the academy by following it on Facebook, under the page, I Have Talent Sports Academy.
