Ward councillors visit Ferndale on Republic

FERNDALE – Ward councillors were invited to a hard hat tour of Ferndale on Republic Shopping Centre.

FERNDALE – Ward 104 councillor Mike Wood and Ward 102 councillor David Potter were invited to a hard hat tour of the currently in development Ferndale on Republic Shopping Centre.

Wood said, “I think this is just what this area needs, and it is amazing to see such positivity. As I have said in the past, any new business that is attracted to our wards will create employment and further business opportunities. I hope that this upliftment will inspire a spin-off into the entire CBD of Randburg, as it needs this sort of boost.

“The comparison of what this centre used to be is day and night. There is a new enthusiasm and vibrancy, and it is a great new group of individuals that have brought their expertise to bring a positive vision for this centre and the community it serves.”

The centre’s general manager Francois du Buisson added, “Having the ward councillors here today is truly special. Having them being part of this development shows that we care about the people in our community. As a centre that is so close to the heart of the community, it is a landmark area that just needed a bit of boldness to bring convenient shopping to the people of Randburg. This is what we hope to deliver.”

Some stores at the centre are currently trading during the refurbishment, with others opening on 28 March, May and June, and a complete grand opening in August.
