99 arrested after police operations

RANDBURG – The Cluster Police have arrested 99 people on various charges.


RANDBURG – The Johannesburg West Cluster Police conducted various operations across its seven policing precincts, resulting in the arrests of 99 suspects over the weekend of 22 February.

Suspects were arrested on various charges, ranging from petty to serious crimes.

Police communications officer Captain Tinyiko Mathebula said, “The highlight of the arrests made over the weekend arose when four male suspects, between the ages of 23 and 30, were arrested in Diepsloot for possession of a hijacked motor vehicle, which was reported at Moffatview Police Station.”

According to Mathebula, the members of the West Rand Flying Squad received a tip from a tracking company about a hijacked vehicle.

Mathebula continued, “They acted swiftly on the information and proceeded to Diepsloot. Upon arrival, the members found four male occupants in the vehicle and were all arrested and charged with possession of a hijacked motor vehicle.”

Police stations in the cluster that saw the arrests include Diepsloot, Douglasdale, Florida, Honeydew, Linden, Randburg and Roodepoort.

All suspects will soon appear in the Randburg and Roodepoort magistrates’ courts.
