A taxi driver has passed away after falling victim to an alleged hit at a taxi rank on the corner of South Africa Drive and Angola Street.
Honeydew Police Station spokesperson Captain Balan Muthan said, “The deceased was a taxi owner at the rank. A red [Volkswagen] Golf stopped and three occupants with firearms got out and fired several shots at the victim.”
According to Muthan, paramedics declared the victim dead on the scene.
“There were approximately 17 shots fired. Information is that the deceased was from Randburg United Long Distance Taxi Association.”
The case is under investigation, with the suspects unknown to the police and their registration number on their vehicle was covered with tape.
