Successful arrests for Randburg Police Station

STRIJDOM PARK – The Randburg Police Station arrested several suspects in the community who now will see their time in court.

STRIJDOM PARK – Two suspects, both 32 years old, are expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court soon to face charges of possession of car breaking implements.

It is alleged that on 7 February, at about 1pm, on-duty police officers performed observation functions in Strijdom Park, on the corner of Malibongwe Drive and Avon Road when they spotted a suspicious vehicle with two occupants. According to Captain Makgowanyana Maja of Randburg Police Station, the officers followed the vehicle until it entered the Department of Home Affairs parking lot. “One of the officers climbed out of the vehicle to do closer observation while others were on guard inside the vehicle next to the exit gate.”

He added the vehicle tried to exit the parking lot after a few minutes but the officers blocked it. “Upon searching the suspects and the vehicle, the officers found car breaking implements and suspects were arrested. They would be charged with possession of car breaking implements,” said Maja.

In a separate incident, on 8 February, at about 6pm, another three suspects were caught on the corner of Malibongwe Drive and Hill Street allegedly after police received information about three suspects who had robbed somebody of their phone. “After being searched, the suspects were found in possession of three cellular phones, a knife and a toy gun were also found in their possession,” explained Maja.

The trio was arrested for being in possession of suspected stolen properties and dangerous weapons. They faced their charges at Randburg Magistrate’s Court 11 February.

Maja shared while the police are using everything in their power to prevent and arrest the perpetrators, they still appeal to the community to work with them by providing information and further to adhere to any safety measure to prevent crimes like theft out of motor vehicles or robberies, more especially in the intersections. He concluded by advising drivers not to trust anyone around there vehicle and not to pack their valuables in places that are visible.
