SPCA visit teaches little ones about the commitment of owning a pet

RANDPARK RIDGE – Kosi Kasi Nursery School children made a special donation to Randburg SPCA as they delivered food for the pets.

Children from Kosi Kasi Nursery School made tails wag all the more joyfully when they happily delivered pet food to the Randburg SPCA.

Owner of the school, Deidre van Jaarsveld said they always support a charity every year and this year they decided to support the SPCA.

On the day the children delivered dog and cat food as well as blankets.

One of this year’s curriculum themes was pets and the school asked the parents to donate items.

Van Jaarveld said it was explained to the children how important the gesture was.

“We explained to them what the SPCA does and how they do not receive funding for what they do and rely on the community to support them.”

The children of Kosi Kasi Nursery are happy that they could help the animals.

She hoped that through this act the children would understand that one cannot just get any pet based on its ‘cute factor’, then lose interest in it when its cuteness goes away, and drop it off at the SPCA because they have grown tired of it.

“A pet is a life commitment and our act of kindness through this donation will go a long way.”

While they were at the SPCA, the children were taken on a tour of the organisation where they managed to see most of the animals and even had the opportunity to feed biscuits to the cows.
