NOTE: Road closures for the SPAR Women’s Race Joburg

EMMARENTIA – Motorists are urged to take note of the following intersections that will be closed on 7 October.

 

Joburg’s most beautiful race will see several roads closed from 5am until 10am on 7 October.

It is expected 16 000 runners will hit the streets around Marks Park Sports Club, Emmarentia, for the 5km and 10km runs at the annual SPAR Women’s Race Joburg.

Some traffic is inevitable, and motorists will need to be aware that the following intersections will be closed:

  • The corner of Judith Road and Beyers Naudé Drive
  • The corner of Judith Road and Barry Hertzog Avenue
  • The corner of Barry Hertzog Avenue and Sabie Road
  • The corner of Sabie and Rustenburg roads
  • The corner of Barry Hertzog Avenue and Umgeni Road
  • The corner of Komatie and Greenhill roads
  • The corner of Komatie and Troon roads
  • The corner of Troon and Hill roads
  • The corner of Troon and Orange roads
  • The corner of Orange and Letaba roads
  • The corner of Orange and Illovo roads
  • The corner of Orange and Mazoe roads.

Metro Police will be stationed at these intersections to redirect traffic and ensure the safety of runners.

When parking at the venue, look out for the official SPAR parking officers who will be wearing yellow branded SPAR vests and have official accreditation badges.

They will direct you to official parking and keep your vehicle safe.

Organisers urge runners to not take directions of any other unofficial parking guards.

Online entries for the race close at midnight on 24 September, afterwards you can visit any SPAR, SuperSPAR or KwikSPAR store to fill in an entry form
