Cito from Wonderboom still rocking like a rockstar

RANDPARK RIDGE – Local Wonderboom band vocalist Cito says he knows his band will still be rocking in years to come.

A vocalist who has been in a band for over 20 years says there’s nothing stopping him from rocking some more.

Martin Otto, better known by his stage name ‘Cito’ has been part of the rock band Wonderboom for 22 years and is still rocking the band as its lead vocalist and guitarist.

He was born in Queens, New York City and moved to South Africa when he was 14.

The music bug bit him when he was in high school at Randpark High School and he has been into music since then.

Wonderboom was formed in 1996 and the band has been making music since then. They have nine albums under their belt and have toured the country and the world.

“We have been going for so long that there are many highlights, but the one that stands out for me is when we went to China late last year and competed in a music performance competition against 14 other countries and we won gold, which is quite cool.

In 2004 we competed in the Global Battle of the Bands with 17 other countries and we came out second and that was an achievement for us,” said Cito.

The band just released a single called Praying Mantis from their latest album, Rising Sun, and they are set to go on a tour called The Best Side Story Tour.
