A crash course clinic for Rand Park netball girls

RANDPARK – Rand Park High School hosted a netball clinic for their netball girls to help hone their skills and drive team spirit.

Rand Park High School hosted a netball clinic for their netball girls to help hone their skills, foster a sense of belonging and build team spirit.

The clinic was run by the school’s netball coaches and the first team players and culminated in a sleepover held in the school hall.

To make a change from the week of netball training, the teams participated in a dance-off competition that evening and also had to write their own lyrics for a song.

Rand Park netball coach Ros Stansell said, “The girls were taught various defence and attack drills, centre passes and ball skills. They then tried out these new drills and it was encouraging to watch them develop as players over the week. They worked very hard, both personally and in their teams.”

The week ended on Friday evening with an Amazing Race challenge, where players participated in various team-building activities before the sleepover.

“The final Friday activities really solidified the purpose of the week, which was to learn something new, create friendships and work together as a team,

“It was a successful week of netball. Well done to all the girls for working so hard. First-team coach, Kayleigh McLean, and her team of players did a phenomenal job of making it an unforgettable week and inspiring a love for the game.

“This clinic showed us what our players are capable of and the importance of working together towards a common vision of achieving excellence in our sport. Our players developed resilience, patience and self-discipline as well as a sense of belonging to a greater team of Rand Park netball.”

The week ended with an All-Sports Derby Day against Sutherland High School, where Rand Park teams played netball, hockey and rugby games against the Centurion-based high school.
