Discarded number plates found in Praegville

PRAEGVILLE – Linden police have one less problem to worry about

It is minus one problem for Linden Police Station’s officers after they recovered a large number of vehicle number plates in Praegville near the Randburg Licence Testing Station recently.

Sergeant Naledzani Matanganye and Constable Elvis Disegoane were called to the scene after a tip-off from a community member who was the first to spot the discarded number plates.

“Initially we thought we will find a few number plates but what we found was a different story,” said Matanganye. “Before we booked the number plates into the station, we tested two of them and they came back negative which means they had no criminal records attached.”

Although more investigations are currently underway to ascertain where the number plates originate from, Matanganye said he suspects the number plates were duplicated by criminals and would have been used to commit criminal activities.

“This way, the police are sent on a wild goose chase while the criminals escape and nothing can be traced back to them.”
