Cyclists rode through Delta Park for the 10th annual edition of the Delta Dash MTB Endurance Race, a six-hour endurance challenge.
The event, which was held on 21 April, had those who either rode solo or in teams of three, for six hours, completing as many laps as they can in the time allowed.
The team category is a relay, with one rider out on the course at a time.

Close to 300 riders competed in the event this year, with 100 solo men, 14 solo women, as well as team participants of which two were tandem riders – and there were three cyclists in full cow suits cycling for CHOC.
Schools such as Helpmekaar Kollege, Micheal Mount Waldorf School, Hoërskool Linden as well as Varsity College had teams in the popular endurance race.
Some riders raced to the last second, while others chose to ride a bit and then rest in the ‘race village’ to relax and socialise with teammates, friends and family.

Marketer for the race, Sue Greaves said each race is about 6km and winds through Delta Park, the SA Scouts property (Camp Delta) as well as Delta Park School. She explained these premises make for a great course as they have some fun, fast sections as well as plenty of climbing.

“The section through the school is the highlight of each lap with some fun options onto the sports field, using the staircase or the longer, more gradual B-line.”
A record was broken on the day by Bryce Munro for the last lap, he did it in just over 14 minutes, making it across the line to finish 22 laps for his team.
But this race is not just for the professionals, explained Greaves, “The race is suitable for all kinds of riders, most of which are social riders.” She concluded some go to race while others go to just enjoy a day on the trails.
