Linden police arrest robbery suspect

WINDSOR EAST – Police arrest suspect on robbery charges.

Lieutenant Colonel Stevie Titus and Captain Anita Human have been praised for their quick wits which led to the arrest of a 25-year-old suspect.

This after the Linden Police Station officers were patrolling the Windsor East area on 22 March.

They were identifying abandoned and dilapidated buildings in the area and once they arrived at such a building, the police officers were approached by a member of the community.

Captain Alex Vermaak said the officers were on a routine patrol with a specific aim of locating abandoned buildings. “He told the officers that he was robbed by three suspects and the police started investigating and searching for the suspects,” said Vermaak.

“While searching, the victim identified the suspects who had also caught the officers’ eyes. When officers approached, they fled the scene. The officers gave chase and one of the suspects was apprehended.”

The police are investigating the incident and the suspect has been charged with robbery. He will appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court soon.
