Suspect charged with theft of motorbike at Randburg Magistrates’ Court

RANDBURG – A suspect appears in court over charges of theft of a motorbike after he allegedly did not return following a delivery he had to make.

A 26-year-old man appeared in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on 13 March, to face charges of theft of a motorbike, he was remanded in custody.

It is alleged that on 28 February, the victim hired the accused for deliveries and took him for training. Later in the day, the victim allegedly sent the accused on a delivery, however, he never came back with the bike.

“He reported the matter to the police,” said Captain Makgowanyana Maja of Randburg Police Station. Adding that through intelligence-driven information, detectives managed to track the accused and arrested him.

The motorbike was recovered, allegedly along with other items suspected to be stolen. Maja said the investigation continues.

He appealed to employers to screen their employees and verify all their details before giving them employment.

He also warned bike delivery drivers to always be observant and vigilant when making deliveries to their clients to avoid being robbed.
