Eileen Breakey of the Old Parktonian Sports Club said, “The tournament is a fun afternoon filled with music, food and the sport that we love.

“Each year, we nominate a charity and each player is asked to bring one item as a donation.”

This year’s chosen charity is Meals on Wheels Community Services, which has aimed to serve the basic needs of the poorest of the poor, the vulnerable, the disabled and the elderly in society.

Meals on Wheels serves about two million meals a month to more than 12 million hungry South Africans.

The ladies donated food and non-perishables to the charity as part of the tournament, and also were asked to knit two squares to make jerseys and blankets for charity.

The ladies played a fast-paced 15 ends of fun bowls, followed by a well-deserved lunch in the clubhouse.
