At the recent Johannesburg North District Learner Awards ceremony, Vuleka SSB High School left a few neighbouring schools rather envious.
The independent Anglican diocesan school walked away with the third prize in the Independent Schools category. The first and second prizes were awarded to Immaculata Secondary School and McAuley House School respectively.
Lizbé Pieters, headmistress of the Vuleka commented that the school community was very proud of the matric Class of 2017 and their teachers.
“We proved that schools charging higher school fees do not necessarily achieve better results.”
The school achieved a 100 per cent pass rate and all candidates obtained access to tertiary education.
The bachelor’s pass rate was 78 per cent and the diploma pass rate was 22 per cent.
Pieters explained that the mission of Vuleka School is to provide an excellent, holistic education for all.
“This includes a drive towards helping pupils develop Christian values that encourage them to live a life of service and contribution to a quality of life that all South Africans can enjoy.”
During a subsequent school assembly, trophies for the 100 per cent passes and for being in the top three independent schools in the district, were presented to the head prefects of 2018, Gugu Tshabalala and Ofentse Matloha, Deputy Head, Carel Steinmann was also there to accept the award.
“This gesture is sure to encourage the matric Class of 2018 to continue on Vuleka SSB’s path of excellence,” concluded Pieters.
