Man mowed down in Malibongwe Drive

COMSO CITY – One deceased and another injured in different accidents

A man in his mid-30s was declared dead at the scene after he was mowed down by a vehicle in Malibongwe Drive on 2 March.

The accident occurred near the Cosmo Business Park and the deceased was allegedly crossing the road when he was hit by the vehicle.

According to Superintendent Wayne Minnaar, when the victim’s hat was blown off and as he turned around to try and pick it up, he was knocked down and died immediately.

The vehicle was heading towards Kya Sand and the impact left the windscreen shattered.

The vehicle was towed away from the scene. Johannesburg Metro Police Department officials were immediately at the scene to conduct an investigation.

In another accident on 1 March, a young male, believed to be in his 20s, was left critically injured when he was knocked over by a light motor vehicle on Christiaan De Wet Road.

ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene to find local security members there.

The body of a man was found lying on the side of the road.

Paramedics assessed the man and found that he had sustained numerous injuries which left him in a critical condition.

Once treated, the man was transported to Helen Joseph Provincial Hospital for further care.
