The event was hosted from 5pm and continued until 7pm to make it easy for parents to come and support their little ones.

Jamie Chait, the organiser of the event said, “We have installed new lights around the pool to make night-time activities a trend… It is easier for parents to attend, and it’s something that our students really look forward to.

“The weather has not been the greatest, but all in all, it was a fun and successful gala.”

Swimming coach and ex-Blairgowrie pupil, Thando Mhlumayo, shared his excitement for the event saying, “I have a passion for swimming, and seeing all of these exited faces makes my coaching job all worth it.

“When I was here, I really enjoyed swimming and it’s awesome to help out in any way that I can… The kids have been talking about the gala the whole day and they can’t wait to get in the pool.”

The senior inter-house gala kicked off the year’s sporting events, with the junior gala ending the year’s events in November.
