A bright future for Masakhane children

ZANDSPRUIT – Organisations donate to local schools.

Education is one of the most important tools to success – it is the reason the world laughed at the word ‘covfefe’ last year and recognised that it had no meaning.

Because with education, we learn to read, write and pass on knowledge.

The power of education allows children to come out of poverty and make a life for themselves.

The Impophomo Welfare non-profit organisation and the women of Sizoma Si Sebenze have provided a platform for hundreds of children to succeed.

The two organisations donated school stationary for more than 300 Grade 1 children from Masakhane-Tswelopele Primary School in Zandspruit informal settlement.

Lerato Molefe from Impophomo said the welfare organisation provides assistance to areas such as Zandspruit informal settlement.

“We work together with local companies to empower those who want to uplift themselves and make a difference in the community. We want to make them feel important and not forgotten in society by giving the community skills they can help feed their families.”

The school principal, Anna Lebethe was overcome with joy and said the donations will help the children create a better future for themselves.

“It is heartwarming to see the help we are getting because we have children from disadvantaged backgrounds and although we do receive help from the government, it is not enough. For a child in a class, a pencil is everything because it’s their weapon to success.

“We are humbled and appreciate this gesture,” Lebethe said.

Not only did the organisations donate to the primary school, but they also handed out school stationary to Far North Secondary in Cosmo City.
