City imposes level 1 water restrictions

JOBURG – Johannesburg Water urges residents to save water.

It may be that some dams are almost full but the issues are far more complex and rain patterns are not predictable.

It is in light of this that Johannesburg Water has put in place Level 1 water restrictions, as the Vaal Dam water levels are below 80 per cent.

The City has also urged residents to comply with the City’s by-laws.

Residents are only allowed to water gardens between 6pm and 6am and are prohibited from using a hosepipe carrying municipal water to clean paved areas and driveways.

In order to save water, residents are advised to follow these tips:

  • Use grey bath water for paved areas
  • Shower for only 2 mins
  • Turn off taps when brushing your teeth and shaving
  • Only flush the toilet when necessary.
