Windsor East resident tired of theft

WINDSOR EAST – A resident is left frustrated after four tyres are stolen from his car.

A resident had a rude awakening when he found that all four wheels of his Pajero 4×4 vehicle were stolen.

Patrick Haoya said that early in the morning of 20 October he was called by his private security company who alerted him that all his wheels were gone.

“They called me about 3am,” he said.

Haoya explained that because he could not park his car in his carport he was forced to leave it overnight on his pavement.

“There is a complex right next to my house so I had asked the security to just keep an eye on the car,” he said.

He added that after being made aware of what had happened he went out to check on his car and found that bricks were put in place to prop it up. He also said that the security company mentioned they saw a white bakkie around the time of the incident but did not see the number plate.

“They just wanted to take the wheels, if they wanted to take the car they would have easily done so,” said Haoya.

Moreover, the Windsor East resident said his wheels had lock nuts fitted onto them which had him believe that there is some sort of syndicate at play. He has opened a case at Linden Police Station.
The station’s spokesperson, Captain Walter Spencer said that these incidents are not the latest trends, “Tyres are always stolen.”

He explained that criminals love wheels of big cars like Haoya’s .

“This is not a new thing and residents need to use all their security measures wisely,” said Spencer, adding that normal perimeter security is essential, like the use of dogs and private security.

Spencer added that cases like Haoya’s, are treated like any other case.

“In cases where there are no suspects or fingerprints statistical analysis is done and we check for a pattern,” he concluded.
