Daylight burglary captured on video in Robin Hills

ROBIN HILLS – Help police find these men.

Linden police are on the lookout for four men after CCTV captured them breaking into a house in Rietbok Avenue, Robin Hills, on 17 October.

The men made off with jewellery, TVs and two Apple iPads after they lifted the house’s security gate.

Unfortunately, poor quality of the CCTV video meant that the number plate of the four-door white Toyota Etios used in the burglary was unreadable.

A representative from JHB West Responders, who did not wish to be named, explained how the burglary happened in a matter of minutes. JHB West Responders is a group of community-based volunteers who respond to housebreakings, robbery and accidents, with paramedical care and trauma counselling.

“Four men in a Toyota pulled up to the property at 11.01am, in the broad daylight of the morning,” the representative said.

“The guys were well-built and managed to easily lift up the heavy security gate off its motor. They then proceeded to reverse their car into the property, stealing numerous items.”

Thankfully, the property’s owners were at work at the time of the break-in.

The crime only took a matter of minutes to complete, and by 11.05am, the thieves had left the scene.

The homeowner, who also wished to remain anonymous said, “I received the call about my house being broken into and rushed back home immediately.”

Responders from SCP Security who patrol the area, and the homeowner’s security company, ADT, were there within a matter of minutes, but unfortunately, were not fast enough for these quick thieves.

Police spokesperson for the Linden police, Captain Walter Spencer, confirmed that a case against the four home invaders had been opened, with no arrests made as yet.

If you recognise any one of the four men in the video, you can make an anonymous tip-off to the Linden Police Station on 011 888 9299.
