The Joburg Open is making its way to Randpark Golf Club for the first time.

“We are absolutely thrilled to host this prestigious event,” said club general manager, Francois Swart, who added that Randpark had hosted two South Africa Opens before, but never a Joburg Open.

“We promise it will be an exceptional tournament, with courses that will offer a true test of golf. We will show everyone true Randpark hospitality.”

Swart said the recent upgrade of the Firethorn Course, and general environment of the three-course club and beautiful clubhouse and hotel, played a role in Randpark’s selection to host the event.

The Joburg Open will also be tri-sanctioned for the first time, by the Sunshine Tour, Asian Tour and European Tour.

The prize money for the event is R16.5 million.
