Malibongwe Drive receives a facelift

SHARONLEA – Malibongwe Drive falls under the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport.

The resurfacing of Malibongwe Drive has begun and will benefit the lifespan of the road.

Media liaison officer for the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport, Melitah Madiba said, “Residents of Sharonlea and other suburbs where Malibongwe Drive crosses would have noticed construction vehicles working on the road during off-peak times.

“The upgrade project is about the milling and resurfacing of the deteriorated section of Malibongwe.”

According to Madiba, construction begins at 6pm and finishes at 6am.

Ward 101 councillor Dalu Cele added, “I welcome the maintenance of this very important road in our neighbourhood. I further welcome the fact that they are working to resurface the road at night, when there is less traffic.”

Construction vehicles begin work at 6pm and end at 6am on Malibongwe Drive.

The cost of the project is estimated to cost about R7 million and forms part of the City’s maintenance of the roads.
