BREAKING: JRA employee killed in depot accident

JOBURG – Sylvia Gwala, a Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) employee, passed away on 14 July following an accident in the Benrose JAR depot. 

Dr Sean Phillips, the agency’s managing director, expressed his condolences to the family, friends and colleagues who he said are in shock and mourning following this morning’s tragic accident wherein when a truck ‘accidentally reversed into her’ at the depot, south of the inner city.

He confirmed that occupational health and safety specialists from the agency as well as the City of Johannesburg are currently investigating the incident on site.

“The Department of Labour has been notified, and an investigation report will follow in due course.”
Phillips said the South African Police had also been on site and had taken statements and that all depot field staff are receiving trauma counselling.
