Alleged assassin’s case postponed
JOBURG – The man accused of plotting to kill President Jacob Zuma and other prominent South Africans appeared briefly in the Johannesburg Magistrates' Court.
The case against the man accused of plotting to kill senior government officials, including President Jacob Zuma was postponed to 4 August.
Elvis Ramosebudi appeared briefly in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court on 6 July on charges of incitement to commit murder.
The State dramatically changed the charges after his first appearance from conspiracy to commit murder to the latest one. At the time, the National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson, Phindi Mjonondwane highlighted that the State didn’t have evidence that suggested that the accused conspired with anyone to commit the alleged crime.
The postponement was granted to allow the State to disclose the contents of the docket to the defence before going ahead with the trial.
Ramosebudi, who is out on R3 000 bail, was arrested in April by the Hawks in Midrand. He is accused of allegedly plotting to kill high-profile South Africans whom he perceived as State Capture beneficiaries.
He also allegedly had another hit list of prominent South Africans that he named the Anti-White Monopoly Capitalists Regime.
